BUILDING A THRIVING & INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY
Vision Statement
As your Commissioner, I’ve worked to build a stronger, more connected, and more responsive 2G01, one where residents are heard, government is held accountable, and our community has access to the resources and opportunities it deserves.
As I seek reelection, I'm committed to continuing that progress: expanding access to affordable housing, investing in safer neighborhoods and opportunities for our young people, improving the public spaces we share, and making sure every resident has a voice in the decisions that shape our community.
We’ve accomplished a lot together, but more work remains. I’m ready to keep showing up, listening, and delivering for 2G01.

Get To Know
I am Howard Garrett Jr., and it has been an honor to serve as the ANC Commissioner for 2G01. I am running for reelection because I believe deeply in this community, the progress we have made together, and the work that still lies ahead.
Washington, DC is my home, and public service has become an important part of how I give back to the city that has given me so much opportunity. Through my work in housing, mentoring young people with BEST Kids, serving on community and civic organizations, and now representing my neighbors as Commissioner, I have seen firsthand how much strong, accessible leadership matters.
Serving 2G01 has only strengthened my commitment to creating a community where residents are heard, opportunities are expanded, and government works for the people it serves. I am proud of what we have accomplished together and excited about what we can continue building in the years ahead.
I believe every resident deserves access to safe and affordable housing, meaningful opportunity, and a real voice in the decisions that shape their neighborhood. Those values continue to guide how I serve 2G01.
As Commissioner, I have worked to advocate strongly for residents, connect neighbors with resources, hold government accountable, invest in our young people, and bring people together around the issues affecting our community. That work is strengthened by my broader service across Ward 2 and the District, including serving as Chair of the Ward 2 Democrats, National Committeeman for the DC Young Democrats, a Mentor for BEST Kids, an advocate for the LGBTQ+ Community, and a member of the DC Democratic State Committee.
For me, leadership is not simply about holding a title. It means being present, listening, building relationships, and using every position I hold to help create a stronger, more equitable community.
